Successful Virtual Exchange Summit 2024: Advancing Sustainable Development Goals Through Cultural Exchange and Global Citizenship
Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) was honored to participate as a global speaker at the Global Virtual Exchange Summit 2024: Cultural Exchange and Global Citizenship, held on August 28-29, 2024.
HCCCI also proudly served as an institutional partner for the summit, which was organized by the Virtual Exchange Centre (VEC) Research Management Office under the School of Continuing Education at Hong Kong Baptist University.
During the summit, global speakers effectively addressed several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
- Goal 4: Quality Education - Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
- Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure - Building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation.
- Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities - Reducing inequality within and among countries.
- Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals - Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
The summit featured insightful presentations from HCCCI representatives:
Dr. Erwin Faller discussed “Dissecting Health and Wellness Education Using COIL as a Pedagogical Approach,” exploring how Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) can enhance health and wellness education through innovative teaching strategies.
Jack Robin A. Lacerna presented “Building Cultures and Building Futures: Empowering Indigenous Education through Collaborative Online International Learning in Mindanao, Philippines,” focusing on how COIL can bridge cultures and improve educational outcomes for indigenous students in areas of Mindanao.
Vince Karl Otic delivered a talk on “Enhancing Language Acquisition and Global Competence through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL): A Phenomenological Study of HCCCI First-Year College Students' Experiences,” examining the impact of COIL on language learning and global competence among first-year college students at HCCCI.
These presentations highlighted HCCCI’s commitment to advancing sustainable development and global citizenship through innovative educational practices.
