HCCCI demonstrates its strong commitment to SDG 8, particularly Target 8.4, which aims to โ€œimprove resource efficiency in consumption and production and decouple economic growth from environmental degradation.โ€ Through the Grant-in-Aid Student Assistantship Program, the institution integrates education and decent work, ensuring that studentsโ€”especially those from low-income familiesโ€”gain access to meaningful employment while pursuing their studies.

In 2024, a total of 19 working students were accepted into the program and assigned to various offices and academic departments across HCCCIโ€™s main campus in South Cotabato, including the Academic Office, College of Education, Library, IT Laboratory, HR Office, Internationalization Office, Research Office, TESDA Office, and others. These student assistants not only receive financial aid to support their education but also engage in productive campus-based work that develops their professional competence, accountability, and leadership skills.

This initiative embodies HCCCIโ€™s mission of sustainable human resource developmentโ€”ensuring that education contributes directly to economic empowerment and employment readiness. By offering on-campus jobs and structured mentorship under faculty and office heads, the program provides a model of productive, inclusive, and sustainable growth within the academic setting. Students learn to balance academic and work responsibilities, enhancing their adaptability and resilienceโ€”core competencies for long-term employability.

Aligned with SDG 8.4, the program fosters efficient use of institutional and human resources by integrating students into operational processes that support the institutionโ€™s academic and administrative functions. In doing so, it promotes productivity without exploitation, ensuring that all participants work in an environment that upholds dignity, fairness, and professional growth.

The Grant-in-Aid Student Assistantship Program demonstrates how higher education institutions can meaningfully contribute to economic sustainability and workforce preparedness. In alignment with SDG Indicator 8.5 โ€“ Proportion of Employees on Secure Contracts, the institution demonstrates consistent efforts to offer tenure-based, long-term, and legally compliant employment arrangements across academic and support units.

For Academic Years 2023โ€“2024 to 2025โ€“2026, HCCCI employed a total of 514 personnel across Basic Education, College, and Support Services. The annual distribution reflects a stable workforce, with 155 employees in 2023โ€“2024, 178 employees in 2024โ€“2025, and 181 employees in 2025โ€“2026. These numbers indicate sustained institutional growth and a strengthened demand for qualified educators and service personnel.

A significant proportion of these employees are engaged through secure employment contracts, including permanent, full-time, probationary, and fixed-term appointments in accordance with CHED, DepEd, and DOLE standards. The consistent distribution across unitsโ€”Basic Education (79โ€“99 employees annually), College (28โ€“48 employees annually), and Support Services (35โ€“48 employees annually)โ€”demonstrates HCCCIโ€™s adherence to lawful staffing structures and its commitment to providing stable livelihood opportunities.

HCCCI further reinforces employment security through transparent recruitment processes, merit-based evaluations, and the implementation of classification systems for faculty and staff. These mechanisms support the protection of tenure rights, fair management practices, and equitable opportunities for professional development.

By sustaining secure employment arrangements and ensuring compliance with national labor regulations, HCCCI continues to contribute meaningfully to SDG 8.5, promoting decent work, economic resilience, and long-term stability for all members of its academic community.

Across Academic Years 2023โ€“2024 to 2025โ€“2026, Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) maintained a workforce of 514 employees, all of whom were engaged through secure employment contracts including permanent, full-time, probationary, and fixed-term appointments. Percentage distributions show that between 51% and 55% of secure-contract employees serve in Basic Education, 18% to 27% in the College Department, and 22% to 27% in Support Services. This stable distribution affirms HCCCIโ€™s compliance with CHED, DepEd, and DOLE staffing standards and highlights its strong commitment to providing secure and lawful employment opportunities.
