The Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) welcomed representatives from the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII) on Friday, October 17, 2025, for a discussion focused on the institution’s internationalization (IZN) initiatives, integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and readiness for global ranking systems. The visit provided an opportunity to review HCCCI’s achievements and areas for further development in aligning local programs with international standards.

The International Relations Office facilitated the introductions of key institutional leaders and staff involved in HCCCI’s internationalization and quality assurance efforts. The session underscored the growing importance of embedding SDGs into institutional practices to ensure that education contributes not only to knowledge and skills but also to sustainable and socially responsible outcomes.

Sir Danstone Guy P. Dayaday, Education Supervisor II of CHED Regional Office XII, highlighted how internationalization efforts are most effective when they are integrated with institutional strategies and anchored in the SDGs. He emphasized that incorporating SDGs into curriculum design, research, and community engagement ensures that HCCCI’s programs address global challenges while maintaining local relevance.

Mr. Janreve M. Odango, Project Technical Staff III for Transnational Higher Education at CHEDRO XII, provided updates on global ranking systems, including the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) and the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. He noted that THE evaluates measurable contributions to four selected SDGs, including the mandatory SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). For example, HCCCI can highlight its initiatives in education (SDG 4), sustainable agriculture projects (SDG 2), community engagement programs (SDG 11), and industry-partnership projects fostering innovation (SDG 9). All evidence must be publicly accessible, emphasizing accountability and transparency.

Engr. Jhan JKem Fontanilla and Ms. Lea Manon-og, members of CHED’s regional monitoring team, also participated in the discussion, reinforcing CHED’s guidance in aligning HCCCI’s programs with both national regulations and international benchmarks.

Throughout the session, CHED representatives encouraged HCCCI to continue strengthening SDG integration across curriculum, research, and community initiatives. By embedding sustainability goals in academic programs and institutional practices, HCCCI is better positioned to contribute to quality education, innovation, and partnershipsβ€”ensuring its local impact is measurable and globally relevant.

The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of HCCCI’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality, and globally responsive education, grounded in transparency, accountability, and sustainable development principles. Through the strategic integration of SDGs, HCCCI continues to advance its vision in internationalization of all its program.
