More than 250 students from Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) and its partner institution, Sto. Nino College Foundation, Inc., explored contemporary approaches to digital communication during an International Masterclass on โ€œStrategic Planning and Approaches in Quad Media Communicationโ€ led by Malaysian educator Ms. Samratul Janin Binti Sidal on September 21, 2026, at HCCCI Campus 1.

Ms. Sidal, a Visiting Professor from the Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (MIIT), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), discussed strategic planning and approaches in quad media communication, focusing on how communication strategies can be developed and adapted across multiple media platforms.

Her discussion highlighted the importance of understanding target audiences, planning effective messages, selecting appropriate communication platforms, and responding to an increasingly dynamic media environment. For students preparing for careers in technology and digital fields, the session demonstrated how communication competencies complement technical knowledge in professional settings.

The International Masterclass was conducted under ORBIT, HCCCIโ€™s flagship institutional program for expanding learning, professional development, and international engagement opportunities, through the HCCCI Adult Learning Institute (HALI).

As an initiative under ORBIT, HALI provides opportunities for reskilling, bridging, training, lifelong learning, and internationalization, connecting students, faculty, employees, and academic partners with relevant expertise and emerging practices. The Masterclass serves as one of HALIโ€™s learning platforms, providing focused opportunities to engage with specialists, practitioners, and international educators on contemporary and professionally relevant topics.

The Quad Media Communication session demonstrates how ORBIT, through HALI, can transform an international academic connection into an accessible learning experience. By bringing an educator from an ASEAN partner institution directly to HCCCI, the initiative allows students to encounter international perspectives while strengthening competencies that can be applied within their academic and professional contexts.

The initiative also supports HCCCIโ€™s effort to bring ASEAN perspectives, global practices, professional values, and emerging initiatives into the institutional community. Exposure to different approaches enables students to understand how communication practices operate across cultural and educational contexts while encouraging them to consider how relevant strategies may be adapted locally.

For HCCCIโ€™s College of Computer Studies students, the masterclass connected communication with their broader preparation for technology-driven professional environments. Digital technologies have changed how information is created, distributed, consumed, and interpreted, making communication strategy an increasingly relevant competency across technology-related fields.

The session encouraged students to look beyond the technical operation of digital platforms and consider the strategic decisions behind effective communicationโ€”from identifying audiences and developing messages to selecting platforms and adapting communication approaches.

The participation of Sto. Nino College Foundation, Inc. further broadened the learning environment. Bringing 41 participants from the partner institution into the same international learning experience allowed students from two academic communities to engage with the same ideas while sharing a common space for learning and exchange.

Ms. Sidalโ€™s participation as a visiting professor strengthened the academic connection between HCCCI and UniKL, providing students with an opportunity to interact directly with an educator from another country and learn from perspectives shaped by a different educational and cultural context.

The engagement demonstrates how institutional partnerships can extend beyond formal agreements and become active learning opportunities. Through international faculty engagement, HCCCI is able to bring expertise and perspectives from partner institutions directly into its academic environment.

The activity advances Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by providing students with access to contemporary knowledge and international academic perspectives. It supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by developing communication competencies relevant to future academic and professional environments.

The masterclass also contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through its focus on digital communication and technology-enabled media environments, while SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is reflected in the academic engagement between HCCCI and UniKL and the participation of Sto. Nino College Foundation, Inc. as an HCCCI partner institution.

For HCCCI, the Quad Media Communication Masterclass demonstrates how internationalization can be integrated into skills development and professional preparation. Students gain exposure to international expertise while developing competencies that complement their formal academic training.

Through ORBIT, HALI Masterclasses, international faculty engagements, and academic partnerships, HCCCI continues to create pathways for reskilling, bridging, training, knowledge exchange, and international learning.

The Quad Media Communication Masterclass is one example of this approach in practiceโ€”bringing an ASEAN academic perspective into the HCCCI learning environment while connecting students and partner institutions to knowledge that can help them navigate an increasingly digital and interconnected professional world.
