Innovation met culture in a meaningful way as Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), through its College of Computer Studies, took part in the SESLONG Festival 2026 Street Dancing Competition held in Tโboli on March 16, 2026.
Behind the vibrant costumes, rhythmic beats, and powerful cultural performances was a dedicated team from HCCCI working quietly but efficiently as the official tabulators of the event. Using the institutionโs very own developed tabulation system, the group ensured that every score was recorded accurately and transparentlyโgiving both participants and organizers confidence in the results.
More than just a technical task, the experience became a real-world learning moment for the students and faculty involved. It was a chance to see their skills come alive outside the classroom where every click, calculation, and output mattered. The system they helped build and operate was not just software; it became an essential part of a celebration that honored the rich heritage of the Tโboli community.
This meaningful engagement also reflects HCCCIโs support for the goals set by the United Nations. By immersing students in real-life applications, the initiative contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, while the use of a homegrown system highlights SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Supporting a cultural festival like SESLONG also aligns with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, as it helps preserve and promote local traditions. Most importantly, the collaboration between HCCCI and festival organizers reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, showing how working together can create more meaningful and impactful outcomes.
The SESLONG Festival is more than just a celebration as it is a gathering of stories, identity, and pride. And in this shared space, HCCCI found its role not at the center of the stage, but behind it through ensuring fairness, accuracy, and trust.
Through moments like this, HCCCI continues to show that education goes beyond the four corners of a classroom. It becomes more powerful when it connects with communities, supports culture, and builds partnerships that truly make a difference.
