Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community extension, environmental stewardship, and civic responsibility by actively joining the Massive Clean-Up Drive spearheaded by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Surallah. The initiative, held on September 26, 2025, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., was conducted in accordance with Memorandum Order No. M-035, Series of 2022, issued by Hon. Pedro M. Matinong Jr., Municipal Mayor of Surallah, and facilitated by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).
This large-scale community effort mobilized schools, establishments, government employees, and civic groups across the municipality of Surallah, uniting them under a common purpose of promoting public health and protecting the environment. As an institution anchored in service and social responsibility, HCCCI responded with full support from its administration, faculty, staff, and personnel. Representatives from the Academic, Finance, Registrarโs, Marketing, Human Resources, Safety and Security, Custodian and Logistics, Clinic, DSAS and Community Extension Services, College of Computer Studies, Sports and NSTP, Utility, and Guidance Offices all participated actively. With a designated responsibility of maintaining twenty-eight plant boxes from the roadside of Gedorio to Iglesia ni Cristo, the HCCCI community worked diligently to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of their assigned area.
The institution regards its participation as more than a simple clean-up activity. It reflects HCCCIโs educational mission of instilling discipline, civic consciousness, and responsibility in its stakeholders. By taking part in this initiative, HCCCI emphasized that environmental care is a shared duty that requires the cooperation of every citizen and institution. The event also strengthened the collegeโs partnership with the LGU of Surallah, reinforcing the value of collaborative action in achieving sustainable community development.
This initiative also resonates with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It reflects SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting efforts to make communities cleaner and more livable, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by addressing the urgent call to protect the environment, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by demonstrating the importance of governmentโacademic collaboration in solving community challenges.
For HCCCI, community extension activities such as the clean-up drive are vital in bridging academic learning with civic engagement. The institution continues to integrate values of solidarity, service, and environmental responsibility in its programs, thereby molding faculty, staff, and personnel into role models for students and future generations of Holinians. Through such initiatives, HCCCI reaffirms that education is not confined to the classroom but extends into meaningful actions that uplift communities and protect the environment.
The college extends its gratitude to the Local Government of Surallah and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office for organizing this impactful initiative. It also commends the dedicated participation of its employees whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the project. Their unity and commitment serve as a testament to the Holinian spirit of volunteerism and civic engagement.
Looking forward, HCCCI remains steadfast in its mission to promote community-centered programs that uphold the values of sustainability and shared responsibility. The institution calls upon its students, alumni, and partners to take an active role in future community extension activities, recognizing that the well-being of the environment and society depends on consistent and collective action. By working together, the Holinian community can continue to be an agent of change, helping build a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient future for all.
