Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), through its Basic Education Department, strengthened its commitment to learner safety and well-being through the conduct of โProtecting Childhood, Shaping Tomorrow: Championing Child Protection, Anti-Bullying, and Child-Friendly Schools for Every Learnerโ on July 3, 2026, at the Campus 2 Lobby.

The advocacy program brought together students, teachers, school administrators, and community stakeholders to strengthen awareness of child protection, anti-bullying, online safety, mental health, reporting mechanisms, and community support services. The activity underscored the shared responsibility of educational institutions, families, law enforcement agencies, social welfare offices, and the broader community in creating a safe, inclusive, responsive, and child-friendly learning environment for every learner.

The morning session, โChild Protection, Online Safety, and Juvenile Awareness,โ was facilitated by PCPL Sherelyn A. Baloyo of the Philippine National Police (PNP) โ Surallah Municipal Police Station. The session provided participants with practical insights into responsible digital citizenship, cyber safety, juvenile-related concerns, and strategies for protecting themselves from abuse, exploitation, and unsafe online activities. It also emphasized the importance of awareness, responsible online behavior, and seeking appropriate assistance when confronted with situations that may compromise a learnerโs safety and well-being.

In the afternoon, representatives from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) led discussions on Child Abuse Prevention, Mental Health Awareness, Healthy Coping Mechanisms, Reporting Procedures, and Community Support Services. Rizalyn E. Napoles, RSW, Social Welfare Officer III, together with Sophia Patrice B. Briรฑosa, RPm, Community Affairs Assistant II, emphasized the importance of recognizing potential signs of child abuse, encouraging timely and appropriate intervention, supporting childrenโs mental and emotional well-being, and utilizing available government support and referral mechanisms.

The discussions further highlighted that effective child protection required vigilance, compassion, proper reporting, and coordinated action among schools, families, government agencies, and community stakeholders. By strengthening learnersโ awareness of their rights, available support systems, and appropriate reporting channels, the program contributed to building a school community where children were better informed, supported, and empowered to seek help when necessary.

The activity reflects HCCCIโs continuing commitment to fostering a learning environment where every child is protected, respected, heard, and empowered. It likewise advanced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting mental and emotional well-being and access to support mechanisms; SDG 4: Quality Education, by strengthening safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by promoting child protection, awareness of reporting mechanisms, and institutional accountability; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaborative engagement with law enforcement and social welfare agencies in advancing learner welfare.

Through its collaboration with the PNP Surallah Municipal Police Station and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, HCCCI further strengthened its whole-community approach to child protection and learner welfare. By empowering learners with knowledge, strengthening awareness of support and referral systems, and fostering collaboration among the school, families, government agencies, and the community, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating a culture where safety, dignity, inclusion, and holistic development remained at the heart of quality education.ย
