Sustaining its commitment to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local scene, the Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) proactively participated in the Identification and Prioritization Workshop of the proposed activities and strategies for the EU-PH Green Economy Project held at The Farm at Carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal on January 26-27, 2026.

The workshop was attended by twenty-eight (28) individuals representing various stakeholders, including relevant departments of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Koronadal, private enterprises, civil society organizations, Informal Waste Collectors (IWC) organizations, National Government Agencies (NGAs), and members of the academe. The activity was facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines, emphasizing collaborative and inclusive planning among partner sectors.

This multi-year project, which commenced in 2024, targets cities and municipalities across the country based on criteria established by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and UNDP, particularly in governance and advanced programs on solid waste management, among others.

The EU-PH Green Economy Project aims to accelerate the countryโ€™s transition toward a greener, more inclusive, and circular economy by reducing plastic waste, improving energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy, and supporting climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, while fostering sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities.

The initiative supports several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by promoting responsible waste management and environmentally resilient urban systems; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, through strengthening circular economy practices and reducing environmental waste; SDG 13: Climate Action, by advancing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies through energy efficiency and renewable energy promotion; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which highlights the importance of collaboration among government agencies, private sectors, civil society organizations, and academic institutions in achieving sustainable development.

The project is anchored on four major components, namely: (1) Policy and Alliances, (2) Green LGUs, (3) Green Business, and (4) Green Energy. The participation of LGU Koronadal, as part of the Tier 2 implementation, falls under the second strategic objective focusing on Green LGUs.

During the workshop, HCCCIโ€™s potential role was identified in key strategies such as Training and Capacity Building, Social and Behavioral Change Communication, and Documentation of Good Practices for possible replication in other cities and municipalities. Through these initiatives, HCCCI continues to strengthen its contribution to environmental sustainability, community development, and knowledge sharing toward building resilient and environmentally responsible communities.
