Holy Child Central Colleges Inc. (HCCCI) โ€“ Basic Education Department conducted its Career Day for Kinder pupils on February 13, 2026, at the HCCCI campus. The activity focused on introducing young learners to various community professions and helping them understand the value of service, responsibility, and meaningful work at an early age.

The event was attended by key school officials and guests whose presence reinforced the importance of the activity: Lowel D. Pasing, LPT, MMEM, School Principal; Erwin M. Faller, PhD, Academic Director; Vanessa Marie L. Antiquin, MMEM, Executive Vice-President; Rhoda Leaf G. Catoto, RSW, from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Surallah; Melona Barrientos, the ECCD Focal Person, and Ariane M. Sioco, LPT, Elementary Coordinator.

Kinder pupils came dressed as teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, soldiers, firefighters, engineers, scientists, chefs, and astronauts. Through a simple Career Costume Parade and short guided presentations, the children expressed their dreams while learning how these professions contribute to safe, healthy, and progressive communities.

Role-playing served as the core learning approach of the activity. At an early age, role-play strengthens communication skills, creativity, confidence, and values formation. It allows children to connect imagination with real-life responsibilities in a structured and meaningful way. By engaging in guided discussions and reflective activities, pupils began to understand that every profession carries a purpose rooted in service to others.

The activity is grounded in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) principles, which emphasize developmentally appropriate practices, experiential learning, and whole-child formation. In line with ECCD standards, Career Day promoted cognitive development through guided discussions, socio-emotional growth through role assumption and interaction, language development through presentations, and psychomotor engagement through active participation in structured activities. By integrating play-based learning with real-world concepts, HCCCI ensures that young learners develop foundational life skills while nurturing curiosity and self-awareness.

Aligned with HCCCIโ€™s commitment to holistic education, Career Day emphasized not only career awareness but also character development and social responsibility. The initiative introduced young learners to the idea that education is a foundation for future contribution to society, supporting principles reflected in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas of quality education, good health and well-being, sustainable communities, peace and strong institutions, innovation, and partnerships.

The Career Day initiative intentionally targeted key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through structured, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. It advanced SDG 4 โ€“ Quality Education by using guided role-play and reflective discussions to strengthen foundational skills such as communication, creativity, and critical thinking. It addressed SDG 3 โ€“ Good Health and Well-Being by facilitating conversations on health, safety, and caring for others.

Through problem-solving themes and innovation-focused discussions, the activity supported SDG 9 โ€“ Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, while safety awareness and disaster preparedness concepts reinforced SDG 11 โ€“ Sustainable Cities and Communities. By emphasizing discipline, fairness, and responsible citizenship, the program aligned with SDG 16 โ€“ Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Finally, the collaboration among administrators, teachers, parents, and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Surallah demonstrates SDG 17 โ€“ Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in nurturing childrenโ€™s development and future aspirations.

More than a celebration of costumes, the activity served as an early step in nurturing purposeful dreams. Through structured experiential learning opportunities like Career Day, HCCCI continues to guide its youngest learners toward becoming responsible, community-oriented, and globally aware individuals.

Holy Child Central Colleges Inc. (HCCCI) remains committed to providing meaningful, real-life learning experiences for young learners through structured, age-appropriate activities that extend beyond the classroom. By integrating experiential programs such as role-play, guided community exposure, and interactive celebrations, HCCCI ensures that children do not only learn concepts in theory but also understand their practical value. Through these initiatives, the institution continues to foster confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and early awareness of purposeful citizenship in a supportive and developmentally appropriate environment.
