Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) welcomed three Singaporean education leaders and consultants from the Singapore Education Consulting Group (SECG), opening opportunities for academic dialogue, professional exchange, and potential future collaboration.

The delegation is composed of Dr. Natarajan Varaprasad, Mr. Edmund Lim, and Dr. Ramanathan Subramaniam, all associated with SECG, a Singapore-based education consulting and professional development group whose network brings together experienced education policymakers, school leaders, higher education practitioners, researchers, and trainers. The group provides consulting and professional development across areas including educational leadership, teacher development, school improvement, higher education, technical and vocational education, education reform, and innovative learning. SECG also undertakes international consulting and education projects across Asia and other regions.

Upon their arrival, the delegates were received by Vanessa Marie L. Antiquin, MMEM, Executive Vice President of HCCCI; Mr. Nathaniel Caballero, Member of the HCCCI Board of Trustees; and Mr. Reyan F. Antiquin, Operations Manager of Classify, Inc., HCCCIโ€™s technology provider. The initial reception marked the beginning of their engagement with HCCCI and provided an opportunity to welcome education professionals whose experiences cover different areas of institutional leadership, educational development, research, and professional learning.

Dr. Natarajan Varaprasad, a Principal Consultant of SECG, brings more than three decades of experience in higher education and institutional leadership. He was the founding Principal and CEO of Temasek Polytechnic and later served as Deputy President of the National University of Singapore. He also served as CEO of Singaporeโ€™s National Library Board. His professional experience includes higher education management, technical education, institutional development, and education leadership.

Mr. Edmund Lim, also a Principal Consultant of SECG, brings extensive experience in school leadership, teacher development, and international education. He previously served as a principal and vice-principal in Singapore schools and taught at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. His professional work has included school development and improvement, curriculum, partnerships, leadership development, and professional development for educators.

Dr. Ramanathan Subramaniam, an Associate Consultant of SECG, brings an academic and research perspective to the delegation. He previously served as an Associate Professor of Science Education at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. His work includes science education, teacher development, educational research, scholarly publication, postgraduate supervision, and research methodology. SECG notes his extensive publication and doctoral supervision experience in the field of education.

Their arrival provides HCCCI with an opportunity to bring international educational perspectives closer to its academic community while also sharing its own institutional experiences and initiatives. At this stage, the visit serves primarily as a space for dialogue and exchange, allowing both sides to better understand their respective contexts, strengths, priorities, and areas of common interest.

The engagement may provide opportunities to discuss areas such as institutional leadership, faculty development, teaching and learning, research, educational innovation, quality assurance, professional development, and internationalization. Rather than immediately defining specific programs, the initial interaction allows HCCCI and the visiting education leaders to explore where their expertise and institutional priorities may complement one another.

For HCCCI, the visit also reflects its broader approach to internationalizationโ€”one that seeks to bring international knowledge and professional expertise directly into the local academic environment. International engagement does not have to be limited to overseas mobility or conference participation; it can also take place through visiting educators, professional dialogue, masterclasses, mentoring, institutional learning, and knowledge exchange within the HCCCI community.

The engagement is particularly relevant to HCCCIโ€™s continuing efforts to strengthen opportunities for reskilling, professional development, international learning, and institutional capacity-building. The experiences of the visiting education leaders may provide useful perspectives that can inform conversations on how educational institutions can respond to changing learner needs, develop their faculty, strengthen leadership systems, and prepare students and educators for an increasingly interconnected environment.

The visit also contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education through knowledge-sharing and professional learning; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by creating opportunities for cross-border educational exchange; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through professional dialogue and potential institutional cooperation.

For HCCCI, bringing experienced education professionals from Singapore to South Cotabato provides an opportunity to make internationalization more accessible to its academic community. It allows students, faculty, administrators, and institutional leaders to encounter perspectives shaped by another education system without having to leave the local context.

As the engagement develops, HCCCI looks forward to further conversations with the delegates and to identifying areas where the exchange may lead to meaningful opportunities for its students, faculty, and institutional community. The arrival marks the beginning of the engagement, with the potential directions of cooperation to be shaped through continued dialogue and mutual understanding.

Through engagements such as this, HCCCI continues to connect its local academic community with international expertise and perspectivesโ€”creating opportunities to learn from global experiences, share local practices, and explore partnerships that can contribute to the continuing development of education in South Cotabato and beyond.
