Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) welcomed three distinguished Singaporean education leaders and consultants from the Singapore Education Consulting Group (SECG) whose arrival marked the opening of a series of engagements centered on educational leadership, institutional development, professional exchange, and international academic collaboration.

The delegation comprised Dr. Natarajan Varaprasad, Founding Principal and CEO of Temasek Polytechnic and Founding Partner of the Singapore Education Consulting Group; Mr. Edmund Lim, Principal Consultant and Partner of the Singapore Education Consulting Group; and Dr. Subramaniam Ramanathan, educator, academic, and researcher from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

The visiting delegation was received by key academic and administrative officials of HCCCI, together with representatives from its partner institutions, Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI) and New Hope School of Agriculture and Fishery, Inc. (NHSAFI). The group was led by Vanessa Marie L. Antiquin, MMEM, Executive Vice President of HCCCI; Dr. Erwin M. Faller, Academic Director of HCCCI; Dr. Jun Y. Badie, Academic Director of SNCFI; Dr. Rogelio Rasay III, Academic Director of NHSAFI; Lowel D. Pasinag, LPT, MMEM, School Principal of HCCCIโ€™s Basic Education Department; Mark Laurence J. Fano, LPT, MALT, CHRA, Director of Student Affairs and Services; Juliet Arellano-Castaรฑas, MAEd, Head of the Center for Institutional Performance and Quality; and Dr. Marlon L. Viejo, Director of Research and Extension.

The reception provided an opportunity for the visiting educators to meet HCCCIโ€™s academic and administrative leadership while also engaging with representatives of its partner institutions.

The inclusion of SNCFI and NHSAFI as HCCCI partner institutions reflects the broader collaborative nature of the engagement. While each institution maintains its own identity and institutional structure, their participation provided an opportunity to extend the value of the international engagement beyond HCCCI and create a wider space for academic dialogue and professional learning.

As part of their initial activities, the delegates toured the HCCCI Basic Education Department, where they were introduced to the campus facilities and learning spaces that support the schoolโ€™s educational programs. The visit offered the Singaporean educators a firsthand look at HCCCIโ€™s physical and academic environment and provided a setting for informal interaction with members of the school community.

The delegation also met with HCCCI Board of Trustees members Sir Nathaniel Caballero and Sir Darrell S. Caballero. The meeting brought the visitors into a higher-level institutional discussion on educational priorities, leadership, and possible areas of cooperation. It also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on institutional development and the evolving needs of learners, educators, and educational organizations.

Dr. Varaprasad brings extensive experience in higher education leadership and institutional development. As the Founding Principal and CEO of Temasek Polytechnic, he played a significant role in the institutionโ€™s formative years. His professional background also includes senior leadership positions at the National University of Singapore and Singaporeโ€™s National Library Board. He currently serves as Founding Partner of the Singapore Education Consulting Group, bringing extensive experience in higher education management, institutional development, leadership, and education systems.

Mr. Lim brings a strong background in school leadership, teacher development, and international education. His experience includes serving as a principal and vice-principal in Singapore schools, teaching at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, and holding leadership positions in international schools across Asia. He currently serves as Principal Consultant and Partner of the Singapore Education Consulting Group, with professional experience in school development, leadership, curriculum, partnerships, and professional development. Dr. Subramaniam adds an academic and research dimension to the delegation. At the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, he has served in senior academic positions, including Associate Dean for Educational Research and Associate Dean for Graduate Academic Programmes. His professional interests include science education, teacher development, educational research, scholarly publishing, research methodology, and postgraduate education. The presence of the three Singaporean educators brought together complementary perspectives in institutional leadership, school administration, teacher development, higher education, and educational research.

Their initial activities at HCCCI provided a practical institutional context for these areas of expertise to intersect with the priorities of the host institution and its academic community. The engagement also provides an opportunity for SNCFI and NHSAFI, as HCCCI partner institutions, to participate in an international academic exchange involving experienced education professionals from Singapore. Their inclusion allows the engagement to extend beyond a single institutional setting and creates opportunities for shared learning, professional dialogue, and the exploration of common interests among participating educational institutions.

At this stage, the engagement is primarily focused on dialogue, institutional learning, and the identification of areas of common interest. Rather than immediately defining specific programs or commitments, the initial interaction allows HCCCI, its partner institutions, and the visiting education leaders to better understand their respective contexts, strengths, priorities, and potential areas where their expertise may complement one another.

The discussions and interactions may provide opportunities to explore areas such as institutional leadership, faculty development, teaching and learning, research, educational innovation, quality assurance, professional development, technical and vocational education, and internationalization. Any future initiatives may be shaped through continued discussions and a clearer understanding of the needs and priorities of the participating institutions.

For HCCCI, the visit reflects its broader approach to internationalizationโ€”one that seeks to bring international knowledge and professional expertise directly into the local academic environment. International engagement does not have to be limited to overseas mobility or participation in international conferences. It can also take place through visiting educators, professional dialogue, masterclasses, mentoring, institutional learning, and knowledge exchange within the local community.

The engagement is particularly relevant to HCCCIโ€™s continuing efforts to strengthen opportunities for reskilling, professional development, international learning, and institutional capacity-building. The experiences of the visiting education leaders may provide useful perspectives that can inform conversations on how educational institutions can respond to changing learner needs, develop faculty and school leaders, strengthen institutional systems, and prepare students and educators for an increasingly interconnected environment.

The participation of HCCCIโ€™s partner institutions likewise reflects the institutionโ€™s effort to make international opportunities more inclusive within its network. By creating spaces where partner institutions can participate in international academic activities, HCCCI seeks to extend the benefits of knowledge exchange and professional engagement beyond its own campus and contribute to a wider culture of collaboration.

The engagement supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education through knowledge-sharing, professional learning, and exposure to diverse educational practices. It also contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by creating opportunities for cross-border educational exchange and broader participation in international learning networks. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is reflected through the professional dialogue and potential cooperation among HCCCI, its partner institutions, and international education professionals.

For HCCCI, bringing experienced education professionals from Singapore to South Cotabato provides an opportunity to make internationalization more accessible to its academic community. It allows students, faculty, administrators, and institutional leaders to encounter perspectives shaped by another education system without necessarily having to leave the local context. At the same time, the engagement allows international visitors to better understand the educational environment, institutional priorities, and community context in which HCCCI and its partner institutions operate.

The first day of the engagement set the foundation for the activities that followed, beginning with the delegationโ€™s arrival and extending through their interaction with HCCCIโ€™s academic and administrative community, campus visit, and meeting with institutional leadership.

The participation of SNCFI and NHSAFI further broadened the engagement by bringing partner institutions into the shared learning experience. As the engagement develops, HCCCI looks forward to further conversations with the delegates and to identifying areas where the exchange may lead to meaningful opportunities for its students, faculty, administrators, partner institutions, and wider academic community. The arrival marks the beginning of the engagement, with the potential directions of cooperation to be shaped through continued dialogue, mutual understanding, and careful alignment of institutional priorities.

Through engagements such as this, HCCCI continues to connect its local academic community with international expertise and perspectives, creating opportunities to learn from global experiences, share local practices, and explore partnerships that can contribute to the continuing development of education in South Cotabato and beyond.
