The SECG delegation included Dr. Natarajan Varaprasad, founding principal and chief executive officer of Temasek Polytechnic and founding partner of SECG; Mr. Edmund Lim, principal consultant and partner of SECG; and Dr. Subramaniam Ramanathan, an educator, academic, and researcher associated with the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Their experience in educational leadership, institutional management, and academic development contributed international perspectives to the discussion.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to translate shared expertise into practical educational initiatives. Areas of discussion included academic leadership, curriculum development, faculty capacity-building, and institutional quality assurance. These areas provided a basis for considering how international experience and regional higher education priorities might inform institutional development, while recognizing the distinct contexts and objectives of the participating institutions.
For HCCCI, the engagement reflects an approach to internationalization that connects external partnerships with broader institutional priorities. The participation of representatives from academic leadership, international relations, student affairs, and quality assurance brought several dimensions of institutional development into the conversation. This cross-functional perspective is important in examining how potential collaborations can relate to academic standards, organizational development, student support, and the overall quality of the educational experience.
The participation of SNCFI Academic Director Dr. Jun Y. Badie and NHSAFI Academic Director Dr. Rogelio Rasay also highlighted the opportunity for HCCCIโs partner institutions to participate in broader conversations on educational development. By bringing together regional higher education leadership, international education consultants, and representatives of separate institutions, the courtesy visit created space for exchanging perspectives that may inform future academic and institutional initiatives.
The engagement aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through its focus on educational quality, academic development, and capacity-building; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the exploration of institutional innovation and stronger educational systems; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through dialogue and the development of potential avenues for regional and international cooperation.
While the discussion remains exploratory, the courtesy visit established common ground for continued communication among HCCCI, SECG, and CHEDRO XII. Further dialogue may help identify specific initiatives, clarify institutional priorities, and determine how the expertise and resources of the participating organizations could contribute to higher education development in the region.
For HCCCI, the visit demonstrates the value of bringing institutional and international perspectives into conversations about the future of higher education. By connecting regional priorities with expertise in academic leadership, curriculum development, professional capacity-building, and quality assurance, the engagement opened opportunities to explore cooperation grounded in institutional needs and shared educational objectives.
