Grade 11 and Grade 12 students of Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), together with their advisers, joined the Civic Parade on September 10, 2026, as part of the celebration of the 73rd Founding Anniversary of Barangay Libertad. The participation brought HCCCI learners alongside students and educators from various public and private schools in the barangay, creating a shared celebration of local history, identity, and community life.

Their presence reflected the important role of young people in community activities and civic celebrations. Following the parade, students, educators, community leaders, and residents gathered for an anniversary program featuring activities and presentations highlighting the barangay’s history, achievements, and continuing development.

The celebration provided an opportunity for the younger generation to learn about and participate in the community they are part of. For HCCCI–Basic Education, participation in civic activities forms part of developing learners who are not only academically prepared but also socially aware, responsible, and engaged in their communities.

Experiences outside the classroom allow students to practice cooperation, respect, participation, and civic responsibility in real community settings. The activity also strengthens the connection between school and community, giving learners opportunities to interact with local stakeholders and appreciate the shared responsibilities that contribute to a thriving community. By taking part in local celebrations, students become active participants in preserving community identity while learning to value the people, history, and traditions that shape their surroundings.

The initiative supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly its emphasis on inclusive and participatory communities. Youth participation in civic activities helps foster belonging, community awareness, and meaningful engagement among the next generation. Through its participation in Barangay Libertad’s 73rd Founding Anniversary, HCCCI continues to encourage learners to look beyond the classroom, participate in their communities, and grow as responsible young citizens who understand that meaningful education is also rooted in service, participation, and a sense of belonging.
