Looking back on their participation in the 4th UNISBA Global Student Motion (UGEO) 2026, students from Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) remember their cultural activities as meaningful moments of discovery, connection, and appreciation. The experiences allowed the HCCCI delegation to immerse themselves in Indonesian culture while sharing their own traditions and perspectives with students from diverse backgrounds.

One of the memorable experiences was the Batik Workshop and Community Engagement, where the students were introduced to the traditional Indonesian art of batik. Through hands-on participation and interaction with members of the local community, the HCCCI delegates gained a deeper appreciation for the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage behind the art. The experience gave students a closer look at how traditions are preserved and passed on through generations.

The Intercultural Sharing session became another meaningful highlight of the program. Students exchanged stories, traditions, experiences, and perspectives from their respective countries, creating an open environment for dialogue and understanding. Looking back, the activity provided the HCCCI delegation with an opportunity not only to learn about other cultures but also to proudly share aspects of Filipino culture with their international peers.

The cultural experience continued through the Angklung Performance, which introduced the students to one of Indonesia’s distinctive traditional musical instruments. The shared experience demonstrated how music can transcend language and cultural differences, bringing people together through participation and appreciation. More than simply observing Indonesian traditions, the students were able to experience culture through active engagement, strengthening their confidence, openness, intercultural awareness, and respect for diversity.

These experiences also reflected HCCCI’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The cultural activities supported SDG 4: Quality Education by providing experiential learning that extended beyond the traditional classroom. They contributed to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by encouraging inclusion, dialogue, and mutual understanding among students from different backgrounds, while the appreciation of Indonesian cultural heritage supported SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The friendships, dialogue, and international connections developed throughout the program further advanced SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through people-to-people exchange and international cooperation.

As the HCCCI delegation looks back on the Batik Workshop, Community Engagement, Intercultural Sharing, and Angklung Performance, the experiences remain a reminder that culture is best understood not only by observing but also by participating, listening, sharing, and connecting. The 4th UGEO 2026 gave students valuable opportunities to broaden their global perspectives while building friendships that crossed cultural and geographical boundaries.

For the HCCCI students, the cultural activities became more than memorable moments during an international program. They became lessons in respect, openness, and appreciation—experiences that continue to shape them as young Filipinos prepared to engage with an increasingly interconnected world. Through UGEO 2026, HCCCI continues to demonstrate its commitment to transformative international learning experiences that bring education, culture, and global citizenship together.
