Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) marked SDG Day 2026 on October 2, 2026, at the HCCCI campus as part of HCCCI Intramurals 2026, bringing together students and members of the academic community to promote awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of young people in advancing sustainable development.

The program opened with an introduction to SDG Day, emphasizing that achieving the SDGs requires participation not only from governments and institutions but also from students and communities. The activity encouraged learners to recognize how their choices, initiatives, and involvement in local and global concerns can contribute to sustainable and inclusive development.

A major highlight was the launch of ORBIT: Opportunities for Reskilling, Bridging, Internationalization, and Training, HCCCIโ€™s flagship program that brings together initiatives supporting lifelong learning, global engagement, innovation, and professional development. During the activity, students had the opportunity to engage with the different programs under ORBIT, learn about their respective offerings, and explore how these initiatives could support their academic, personal, and professional growth.

The presentations gave students a closer look at the opportunities available through each initiative, from lifelong learning and international collaboration to robotics, innovation, and professional development. Pioneer participants also shared their experiences, encouraging fellow students to take advantage of these opportunities. Their stories highlighted how involvement in HCCCIโ€™s programs can extend learning beyond formal academic activities, opening doors to international exposure, connections with peers from other countries, and friendships that develop beyond academic collaboration and cultural exchange.

Through these shared experiences, students were able to see internationalization not simply as an institutional program but as an opportunity to build relationships, gain new perspectives, develop confidence, and become part of a wider learning community. The experiences of pioneer participants demonstrated how these initiatives can contribute to personal growth and create connections that continue beyond a particular activity or program.

One of the initiatives introduced was HALI โ€“ Holy Child Adult Learning Initiative, which reflects HCCCIโ€™s commitment to lifelong learning and expanded educational opportunities beyond traditional academic pathways. Through adult learning and continuing education initiatives, HALI seeks to support learning that remains accessible, relevant, and responsive to changing personal and professional needs.

The program also featured HCGI โ€“ Holy Child Global Classroom Initiative, which advances international and cross-cultural learning through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), virtual exchanges, and student mobility. HCGI provides opportunities for students to engage with peers and academic communities across borders, develop intercultural competence, and experience international collaboration without limiting global learning to physical travel.

Another component, CIRI โ€“ Center for Innovation and Robotics Initiative, highlighted HCCCIโ€™s focus on innovation, technology, and future-ready learning. Through robotics and innovation-oriented activities, CIRI aims to create opportunities for students to develop creativity, technological skills, problem-solving abilities, and an interest in emerging fields.

The ORBIT launch also featured Executive Program โ€“ Uniting, reflecting HCCCIโ€™s efforts to foster collaboration, professional development, and connections among members of the academic and professional community. The initiative complements ORBITโ€™s broader direction by providing opportunities for engagement and learning that extend across institutional and professional settings.

Following the ORBIT presentation, the program introduced SAGE โ€“ Student Alliance for Global Engagement, presenting the organizationโ€™s purpose, objectives, student leaders, and members. SAGE provides a platform for students to participate more actively in international collaboration, cross-cultural learning, and initiatives that promote global citizenship. Its introduction underscored the importance of giving students opportunities not only to experience internationalization but also to help shape and sustain student-led global engagement activities.

The activity supports HCCCIโ€™s commitment to SDG 4: Quality Education, through lifelong learning and internationalized education; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, through efforts to expand access to learning and cross-cultural opportunities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through student participation, responsible engagement, and the development of inclusive institutional communities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through international collaboration and knowledge exchange. The ORBIT initiatives illustrate how these goals can be connected with institutional programs, while SAGE encourages students to take an active role in global engagement.

By integrating SDG Day into HCCCI Intramurals 2026, the institution extended student development beyond athletic competition to include sustainability awareness, innovation, lifelong learning, and international engagement. The activity served not only as a platform for introducing institutional initiatives but also as an opportunity for students to discover available programs, hear firsthand accounts from pioneer participants, and recognize the possibilities that come with active involvement.

Through SDG Day 2026, the launch of ORBIT, and the introduction of SAGE, HCCCI continues to strengthen its efforts to develop learners who are informed about global challenges, engaged with their communities, open to cross-cultural collaboration, and prepared to contribute to sustainable development. By connecting institutional programs with student experiences and opportunities for participation, HCCCI seeks to make global learning and personal development more accessible to its academic community.
