Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) officially opened IZN Days 2026: “Think Global Forum” on July 27, 2026, bringing together faculty members, students, and institutional leaders for a day of learning, dialogue, and strategic planning centered on internationalization and institutional development. Organized by the International Relations and External Linkages Office, the opening day gathered 50 faculty members and students in a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen HCCCI’s capacity for global engagement while remaining firmly anchored in its mission of serving the Upper Valley community.

Serving as the keynote resource speaker was Jerome L. Duque of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), who shared his expertise in curriculum internationalization, global university rankings, sustainability reporting, strategic communications, partnership development, and international engagement through TAU’s Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA). Drawing from institutional best practices and practical experience, he encouraged participants to view internationalization as a long-term institutional commitment that enhances teaching, research, community engagement, and organizational excellence.

The forum opened with the keynote lecture, “Understanding World University Rankings and Institutional Competitiveness,” which provided participants with a broader perspective on how higher education institutions are evaluated globally. Rather than viewing international rankings solely as indicators of prestige, the session emphasized their value as strategic tools for institutional reflection, continuous quality improvement, sustainability, and evidence-based planning. Participants were encouraged to recognize HCCCI’s existing strengths while identifying opportunities to further enhance its academic, research, extension, and internationalization initiatives.

Building upon these insights, participants engaged in the workshop “Mapping HCCCI’s Strengths and Opportunities,” where faculty members and students collaboratively examined the institution’s accomplishments, emerging initiatives, and areas for future growth. The workshop fostered meaningful dialogue on how HCCCI can further strengthen its academic programs, research productivity, community engagement, and global partnerships while remaining responsive to local and regional needs. The succeeding open forum enriched the discussions by providing a platform for participants to exchange ideas, raise questions, and share diverse perspectives on the institution’s internationalization journey.

In the afternoon, the Strategic Planning Workshop encouraged participants to translate insights into actionable priorities for institutional development. Faculty members and students worked collaboratively to identify practical strategies that would reinforce HCCCI’s ongoing efforts in academics, research, sustainability, international partnerships, innovation, and community engagement. The session underscored that meaningful internationalization is achieved through shared ownership, collaborative leadership, and the active participation of the entire academic community.

The day’s discussions culminated in the presentation of an Initial Internationalization Roadmap, consolidating the ideas, recommendations, and strategic directions generated throughout the forum. While serving as an initial framework, the roadmap establishes a strong foundation for future planning and reinforces HCCCI’s commitment to building a globally engaged institution that remains responsive to the aspirations of its learners and the communities it serves.

More than a series of learning sessions, the opening of IZN Days 2026 demonstrated that internationalization is a shared institutional endeavor. By bringing together faculty members and students in meaningful dialogue, HCCCI reaffirmed that global engagement is strengthened when academic excellence, innovation, sustainability, and community development are pursued collectively. The forum highlighted that meaningful internationalization begins with understanding one’s institutional identity, learning from global best practices, and translating those insights into initiatives that create lasting local impact.

The initiative likewise advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting continuous institutional learning and globally relevant education; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by strengthening institutional innovation and organizational capacity; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions through participatory governance, inclusive dialogue, and strategic planning; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening collaborations with higher education institutions and international partners.
