The Marbel Buluan Watershed Alliance (MBWA) convened its Technical Working Group on February 12, 2026, at Notre Dame of Marbel University to discuss its current directions and future plans toward preserving and conserving the 17 watersheds across South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Maguindanao del Sur. During the meeting, Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) reaffirmed its strong commitment to environmental sustainability by actively supporting the allianceโ€™s climate and watershed agenda.

The MBWA Secretariat, represented by the LGU Koronadal City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), invited HCCCI to present its recently completed study titled โ€œHow Koronadalโ€™s Worldviews on Flooding Influence a Resilience Theory of Change,โ€ conducted in December 2025. The research covered three flood-prone barangays: Topland, San Isidro, and Zone III.

The study applied sustainability frameworks, including General Systems Theory (GST), Futures Thinking, and the Theory of Change, within the context of flooding in Koronadal City. Using a mixed-method approach, the research generated recommendations across five key systems: (1) Environment and Infrastructure, (2) Social, (3) Policy and Governance, (4) Coordination Mechanisms, and (5) Future Outlook.

One major output of the Resilience-Based Theory of Change emphasized the โ€œfull operationalization of coordination instruments and stakeholder activities,โ€ strongly supporting the creation and functionalization of the MBWA. The research serves as a robust document that reinforces the allianceโ€™s legitimacy and encourages proactive participation among its members in managing and mitigating watershed risks, including flooding.

Through its intention to serve as a member of the Technical Working Group, HCCCI aims to contribute to data collection, analysis, and the development of strategies and action plans aligned with Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
