Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) proudly joins and co-hosted the international stage as it took part in the 8th Bandung Annual International Conference (BAIC 2025), hosted by Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA), Indonesia from September 8–13, 2025. With the twin symposia—the Science and Technology Research Symposium (SiRes) and the Social and Humanities Research Symposium (SoRes)—the conference gathered leading scholars, scientists, educators, and policymakers from across the globe under the common vision of sustainable development.

Representing HCCCI was Ms. Kimberly Jean B. Surmion, RPh, MSPh, Program Head of the College of Allied Health Sciences, who was invited not only as a research presenter but also as a distinguished speaker in the workshop “Transcending Borders, Transforming Disciplines: A Workshop for Collaborative Excellence.” In recognition of her contribution, Ms. Surmion received a Certificate of Appreciation from UNISBA for advancing multilateral research collaboration across Asian countries.

With her extensive expertise in pharmacy and public health, Ms. Surmion emphasized the urgent need for innovation-driven, sustainable healthcare solutions. Her insights connected science and health research with the broader call for inclusive development and global partnerships, echoing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—notably Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

“Research is not just about discovery,” Ms. Surmion shared during the workshop. “It is about creating bridges across borders, across disciplines, and across communities to ensure that the solutions we build today are sustainable for generations to come.”

Her participation showcased how a Mindanao-based institution like HCCCI contributes meaningfully to international conversations, particularly in technologies for sustainable development and sustainable supply chain management, the themes of SiRes and SoRes 2025 respectively.

For HCCCI, this international engagement reinforces its commitment to global competitiveness, research excellence, and service-driven education. By participating in BAIC 2025, the institution deepens its linkages with academic and research organizations abroad, providing opportunities for collaboration that benefit not only faculty but also students who aspire to become part of a globally connected academic community.
