Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) conducted ALERTO 2026: Health, Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Symposium as part of Magsarangkay 2026, the institutionโs annual student orientation program. Held on June 16, 2026, at the HCCCI Campus 1 Lobby, the activity gathered students, faculty members, and staff for a series of emergency preparedness discussions, demonstrations, and drills aimed at strengthening safety awareness and disaster readiness within the academic community.
ALERTO 2026 was designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies. Through hands-on learning experiences, the symposium emphasized awareness, discipline, cooperation, and readiness in addressing unexpected situations such as accidents, fires, earthquakes, and other emergency conditions.
The activity featured the expertise and guidance of Mrs. Mayflor Silva, RN, MAN, School Nurse; Mr. Aljan Dapitan, RCrim, CCS, Head of Security Services; Engr. Kirby Clem Barriga, Safety Officer; and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Surallah, who facilitated key sessions, demonstrations, and emergency response activities throughout the program.
One of the major components of the symposium was the First Aid Training, where students were introduced to basic life-saving techniques, wound management, and immediate response procedures for medical emergencies. This was followed by an Earthquake Drill, which allowed participants to practice the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ technique and proper evacuation procedures during seismic events.
The program also included a Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Session facilitated by BFP Surallah. The session culminated in a Fire Drill, where participants applied fire response protocols, evacuation procedures, and safety measures in a controlled simulation.
The initiative supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting health awareness and emergency response skills; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience; and SDG 4: Quality Education, by integrating practical life-saving skills into student learning experiences. It also contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action by preparing learners to respond to climate-related hazards and emergencies, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection in delivering specialized training and drills.
Beyond the campus setting, the knowledge and skills gained from ALERTO 2026 may be applied in homes, communities, and public spaces where preparedness and quick response can make a critical difference. The activity encouraged students to act responsibly during emergencies, assist others when needed, and promote safety-conscious behavior in everyday situations.
Through initiatives such as ALERTO 2026 under Magsarangkay 2026, Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. continues to strengthen its commitment to student welfare, disaster preparedness, and community resilience. By embedding practical emergency training into student development, HCCCI fosters a culture of readiness, responsibility, and care among Holinians.
