Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) students captured the spotlight at the Tawag ng Tanghalan: Song Duet Competition, with one pair emerging as champion and two other HCCCI pairs securing runner-up finishes during Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 on September 13, 2026, at the Barangay Libertad Gym in Surallah, South Cotabato. Organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Libertad, the celebration carried the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” bringing young people together through music, creativity, and community participation.

Representing HCCCI, the student performers took the stage as duos, demonstrating vocal ability, confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Rianne Kate Pelle of BSIT 2 and Kian Andrielle Reyes of BSP 1 emerged as Champions, while Carlos Jose David of BSHM 2 and Rashel Baylon of BSHM 1 earned 2nd Runner-Up. Angel Trixia Mae Farrofo of BSBA 2 and Michelle Marquez of BTVTED 2 also secured 4th Runner-Up, giving HCCCI multiple placements in the competition.

Supporting the students throughout their preparation and participation were John Lucas Frac, Activity Coordinator; Grasya Lumba, Community Extension Coordinator; and Bon Bon G. Mallare, Socio-Cultural Coordinator. The students’ performances highlighted the importance of collaboration in developing talent. Working with their duet partners and coaches, they prepared performances that required coordination, discipline, confidence, and the ability to connect with an audience. Their achievements demonstrate the diverse talents of HCCCI students and the value of giving them opportunities to represent the institution beyond the classroom.

More than a competition, the activity provided students with a space for self-expression, friendship, confidence-building, and community engagement. Music offered a shared platform where young people could celebrate their individual talents while finding common ground with others, reflecting the spirit of this year’s Linggo ng Kabataan theme. For HCCCI, participation in community-based creative activities forms part of a broader approach to student development. Academic learning is complemented by opportunities that allow students to discover their strengths, develop interpersonal skills, build confidence, and contribute their talents to the wider community.

The activity also advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through holistic learning, creativity, collaboration, and experiential development; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through positive social interaction and meaningful self-expression; and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by supporting inclusive spaces for youth participation and cultural expression. Through its students’ achievements, HCCCI continues to support a campus culture where talent, creativity, and community participation are recognized as important parts of education—empowering young people to express themselves, connect with others, and pursue their common aspirations.
