The delegation of Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI) officially began its participation in the 4th UNISBA Global Student Motion (UGEO) 2026 on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA) in Bandung, Indonesia. Following their arrival on August 23, the delegates joined the opening and orientation activities that marked the beginning of a week of academic exchange, cultural immersion, and global learning.

Representing HCCCI are four students from different academic levels and disciplines: Jacky E. Caro, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management student; Elen May T. Ugal, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy student; Clanther John C. Rios, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student; and Xhyryll Jay C. Bago, a Grade 11 STEM student. Accompanying the delegation is Mark Laurence J. Fano, LPT, MALT, CHRA, Director of the Department of Student Affairs Services, who provides guidance and support throughout the students’ international engagement.

Day 1 served as the delegates’ introduction to the UGEO experience, beginning with registration and a welcome snack before the formal opening ceremony. Participants were welcomed through the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthems of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The ceremony brought together students from different countries and backgrounds, setting the tone for an international program founded on friendship, respect, cultural appreciation, and cooperation.

A central part of the opening day was the UGEO orientation, which introduced participants to the objectives, program flow, and activities scheduled throughout the international engagement. The orientation provided the HCCCI delegation with a clearer understanding of the academic sessions, campus engagements, cultural activities, and collaborative experiences that would form part of their UGEO journey.

The delegates also participated in the UGEO Guest Lecture themed “Quality Education,” providing an opportunity to reflect on the importance of education in developing individuals and communities. The session complemented HCCCI’s commitment to providing students with learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom and expose them to broader perspectives on education and global development.

Following the lecture, participants took part in a campus tour of UNISBA, visiting key facilities including faculty areas, the library, mosque, student activity center, and the Al Biruny Observatory. The tour gave the students a closer look at the academic and student environment of their host institution while allowing them to experience campus life in an international setting.

The afternoon continued with an icebreaking and cultural bonding activity, creating an informal space for students from different countries to introduce themselves, exchange stories, and learn more about one another. Through these interactions, participants began building friendships and connections that extended beyond their respective institutions and nationalities.

For the HCCCI delegates, these initial activities offered an important realization: internationalization is not limited to traveling to another country. It is about learning with others, understanding different perspectives, appreciating cultures, and developing the confidence to participate in a global community

The UGEO 2026 experience also provides HCCCI students with an opportunity to represent their institution and the Philippines in an international academic and cultural setting. Each delegate carries with them not only their individual academic interests but also the opportunity to share aspects of Filipino culture, values, experiences, and perspectives with fellow participants.

The participation of HCCCI in UGEO 2026 reflects the institution’s continuing commitment to internationalization, student mobility, intercultural learning, and global citizenship. By providing students with opportunities to engage directly with international peers and academic communities, HCCCI seeks to complement classroom learning with experiences that develop communication, adaptability, cultural intelligence, collaboration, and global awareness.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by providing meaningful international learning experiences that broaden students’ educational perspectives; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by encouraging inclusive intercultural exchange and people-to-people understanding; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening institutional and international cooperation through education and cultural exchange.

As Day 1 came to a close, the HCCCI delegation had begun more than just a new academic activity—it had begun a global learning journey. From the opening ceremony and orientation to the guest lecture, campus exploration, and cultural bonding activities, the first day provided the students with a foundation for the experiences that would follow.

With the succeeding UGEO activities ahead, the HCCCI delegates continue their journey in Indonesia with openness, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn—bringing HCCCI beyond its campus, connecting with the world, and discovering how education can build bridges across cultures and communities.
