Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), through its Basic Education Department, hosted a meaningful outreach and informative activity for children (below 7 years old) from the Nurturing Care Development Center (NCDC) at the HCCCI Basic Education Department – Campus 2 on June 5, 2026. Cultural Experience and Interaction Program involving HCCCI student leaders and visiting student leaders from Singapore representing diverse national backgrounds, the activity provided invited young learners of the Municipality of Surallah, South Cotabato with opportunities to engage in cultural exchange while learning the importance of personal health, hygiene, and self-care.

The volunteers conducted a brief hygiene awareness session that emphasized the importance of proper handwashing, correct handling of eating utensils, oral care, and personal cleanliness. Through demonstrations and interactive discussions, the children learned practical ways to maintain good hygiene in their daily lives. The activity not only promoted health and wellness but also reinforced values of self-care, responsibility, and disease prevention, helping the learners develop habits that contribute to their overall well-being.

One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of hygiene kits by the visiting guests from Singapore. The hygiene kits, which contained essential personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and other hygiene necessities, were given to the children to encourage healthy habits and proper hygiene practices at an early age.

The activity also served as an avenue for meaningful cultural interaction between the children and the international volunteers. Through conversations, simple exchange activities, and warm engagement, our young learners gained exposure to different cultures while developing confidence, communication skills, and appreciation for diversity. The visiting students from Singapore helped create a welcoming and child-friendly environment that encouraged interaction, curiosity, and intercultural learning among the young participants.

Assisting in the facilitation of the learners were Sheryl Ann Vegafria, LPT, DCW I, and Angelie B. Demerin, LPT, DCW I, of the Nurturing Care Development Center (NCDC), who continuously support initiatives that promote the holistic growth and development of children. The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) likewise expressed its appreciation to the administration, Basic Education Department, and Internationalization personnel of HCCCI for their support in creating meaningful and enriching experiences for young learners. Through initiatives such as the distribution of hygiene kits and cultural interaction activities, HCCCI continues to demonstrate its commitment to nurturing well-rounded learners who are equipped with essential life skills and positive values. The program not only promoted health awareness and personal responsibility but also fostered cultural understanding, social engagement, and community partnership. By creating opportunities for children to learn, connect, and grow, HCCCI remains steadfast in its mission of providing transformative and meaningful educational experiences that support the overall well-being of every learner.

The distribution of hygiene kits directly contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting proper hygiene practices and encouraging healthy lifestyles among young children, helping them understand the importance of personal care and disease prevention. It also aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by providing learners with practical knowledge and essential life skills that support their holistic development beyond the classroom. Through meaningful interactions with the visiting Singaporean guests, the program advanced SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by fostering inclusivity, cultural understanding, and equal opportunities for engagement among children from diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, the collaborative efforts of Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), the Nurturing Care Development Center (NCDC), the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and the Singaporean guests exemplify SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how institutions and communities can work together to create positive and lasting impacts on children's lives. By integrating health promotion, cultural exchange, and educational engagement, the initiative helped nurture responsible, confident, and socially aware young learners who are better equipped to contribute meaningfully to their communities and society.
