Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. successfully conducted the General Education Culminating Activity titled “HIRAYA: Himpilan ng Inobasyon at Rurok ng Akademikong Yaman at Ani” on May 12, 2026, at the HCCCI campus in Surallah, South Cotabato. The event gathered students, faculty members, program heads, and General Education teachers in a vibrant celebration of learning and creativity through short film presentations, blog viewing sessions, and entrepreneurial bazaar displays held in front of HCCCI and in designated classrooms. Organized as the culminating activity for General Education subjects, the event provided students with the opportunity to showcase their best outputs and apply classroom learning in meaningful and engaging ways.
HIRAYA 2026 was designed to highlight interdisciplinary and experiential learning by allowing students to creatively present the knowledge, skills, and values they acquired throughout the semester. The activity emphasized the importance of outcomes-based education, where students demonstrated critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and innovation through authentic performance-based tasks. Through exhibits, films, performances, and especially the interactive booths and bazaar presentations, learners were encouraged to connect academic concepts with practical experiences while expressing their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
The program formally opened with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Jovita Felongco, who emphasized the value of innovation, academic excellence, and collaborative learning in shaping future ready graduates. General Education teachers also played vital roles in guiding students and ensuring the successful implementation of the event.
One of the major highlights of the activity was the lively bazaar and booth presentations prepared by the students. The open spaces in front of HCCCI transformed into colorful and interactive areas where learners proudly showcased food products, handmade items, educational concepts, and creative business ideas inspired by their General Education subjects. Students enthusiastically interacted with visitors while managing their booths, allowing them to develop confidence, teamwork, communication, and entrepreneurial skills. Inside the classrooms, film and blog viewing sessions featured outputs that reflected creativity, social awareness, and academic understanding. The culmination became a dynamic learning experience where students were able to apply their lessons in practical and engaging ways beyond the traditional classroom setting.
The activity aligns strongly with SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, transformative, and experiential learning opportunities that develop creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by encouraging entrepreneurship, productivity, and innovation through the bazaar and booth activities. Furthermore, the program contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by inspiring students to create innovative outputs and practical ideas, while SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is reflected in the collaboration among students, faculty members, coordinators, and academic leaders in making the activity successful.
Beyond the campus, the event contributes to society by helping students become more confident, innovative, and socially aware individuals who are prepared to contribute positively in different fields and professions. By encouraging applied learning and collaboration, the activity nurtures individuals who value creativity, teamwork, and responsible participation. The entrepreneurial and interactive nature of the booths also inspired students to appreciate the importance of initiative, resourcefulness, and meaningful engagement in addressing real world challenges.
Students expressed joy, pride, and fulfillment as they showcased the results of their hard work and creativity during the culmination. Many participants shared that the event helped them overcome fear in public speaking, strengthened their confidence, and allowed them to appreciate the value of teamwork and experiential learning. Faculty members also felt proud witnessing the students’ growth, enthusiasm, and dedication throughout the preparation and presentation of their outputs.
