Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. (HCCCI), through its International Relations and External Linkages Office, welcomed European guest lecturer Mr. Roelof Van Buren during IZN Days: Think Global Forum 2026, providing students and faculty members of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) with valuable international perspectives on business management, leadership, and global industry practices. The lecture forms part of HCCCI’s continuing commitment to internationalization by bringing distinguished international experts into the classroom to enrich learning experiences and prepare students for an increasingly interconnected global economy.

As a European business professional with extensive experience in international business, organizational development, product management, and consumer behavior, Mr. Van Buren shared practical knowledge and real-world insights that complemented the students’ current academic discussions. His lecture connected classroom theories with contemporary global business practices, enabling participants to better appreciate how businesses operate within today’s highly competitive and rapidly evolving international environment.

Serving as the keynote speaker, Mr. Van Buren delivered an engaging lecture on Product Management, Consumer Behaviour, and Micromanagement in Modern Organizations—topics that closely align with the current learning competencies of students in the College of Business and Accountancy. Drawing from practical experiences and international case examples, he discussed how organizations develop successful products, understand changing consumer behavior, and apply management approaches that promote innovation, efficiency, and sustainable organizational growth.

One of the highlights of the lecture focused on consumer behaviour, where students explored how businesses analyze customer preferences, purchasing decisions, market trends, and evolving consumer expectations in designing products and services that create lasting value. He emphasized that successful organizations continuously adapt to changing market demands by understanding their customers and using consumer insights as the foundation for strategic decision-making.

Mr. Van Buren also introduced students to the principles of product management, explaining how organizations transform innovative ideas into successful products through market research, customer engagement, product development, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. He demonstrated the vital role of product managers in balancing customer needs, organizational objectives, technological advancements, and market competitiveness throughout the product life cycle.

Another significant topic discussed during the session was micromanagement and contemporary leadership practices. While acknowledging that micromanagement may sometimes be necessary in situations requiring close supervision, quality assurance, or employee development, Mr. Van Buren emphasized that effective leadership ultimately depends on trust, empowerment, accountability, collaboration, and the ability to develop independent and responsible teams. He encouraged future business professionals to adopt leadership approaches that balance organizational control with employee growth and innovation.

Throughout the lecture, students actively participated in discussions, relating European business practices to local organizational settings and contemporary business challenges in the Philippines. Practical examples drawn from international industries enabled participants to appreciate how strategic leadership, product innovation, and consumer-centered thinking influence organizational success across different cultures and markets. The interactive discussions encouraged students to think critically about how global business principles can be applied within Philippine enterprises while remaining responsive to local realities.

Beyond the technical discussions, Mr. Van Buren emphasized that success in today’s global business environment requires more than technical knowledge. He encouraged students to cultivate adaptability, intercultural competence, ethical leadership, lifelong learning, innovation, and critical thinking—qualities that enable professionals to thrive within diverse international workplaces and rapidly changing global industries.

The lecture likewise reinforced the commitment of HCCCI’s International Relations and External Linkages Office, together with the College of Business and Accountancy, to preparing graduates who are globally competitive, industry-responsive, and equipped with international perspectives. As part of the institution’s continuing internationalization agenda, HCCCI regularly welcomes international guest lecturers, visiting professors, researchers, and industry practitioners from different parts of the world to enrich learning experiences across its various academic programs. These engagements expose students and faculty members to global best practices, contemporary industry developments, diverse cultural perspectives, and emerging innovations, ensuring that classroom instruction remains relevant to international standards and workforce demands.

The activity likewise advanced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting globally relevant and internationally enriched learning experiences; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing students with competencies aligned with global industry standards; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic thinking; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange through meaningful global engagement.

Through IZN Days: Think Global Forum 2026, Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc., through its International Relations and External Linkages Office, continues to bridge local education with global opportunities by bringing distinguished international guest lecturers and visiting professors directly into the classroom. The visit of Mr. Roelof Van Buren reflects HCCCI’s unwavering commitment to providing transformative international learning experiences that broaden perspectives, strengthen global competencies, and prepare graduates of the College of Business and Accountancy to become innovative, ethical, and globally competitive professionals capable of leading and succeeding in an increasingly interconnected world.
